I'm not going to lie, I like the 4 hour penalty. It just makes sense, when you sleep too late, you sleep in the next morning. It's a natural penalty.
It's harsh (some seem to think...), but to be honest, in perspective, it's really not that bad. Like, it's incredibly easy to not lose the 4 hours. The game tells you when it's time to go home and go to bed. They won't even let you craft or cook anything past 11:30 PM. The only time you'll lose 4 hours is if you disregard the warning to go home and decide to do other things instead, which, yeah. The only challenge in this game is time management, and this is the only penalty.

The stamina loss penalty in Stardew felt brutal because there was not enough energy for the things I wanted to do, and all the time in the world, and usually I head to bed 4 hours early anyways, or wander around aimlessly, in addition to getting my precious rocks stolen. Highly annoying and genuinely stressful and awful (losing energy. The rocks, it depends). In Fields, the only thing I'm fighting against is time, which is. Easy. When this happens and I wake up at 10, I just spend the day cutting trees or fishing, both of which are valuable ways to fill your day still and expend your whole bar of energy. It's a little annoying, sure, but I've never had any extended thoughts about this. I've never thought of sleeping in as stressful to the cozy gameplay loop, I just take it as a lazy day. So I cannot agree that losing stamina is better than losing time, especially after playing this game. I'd be in the mines on a full day, 1 floor away from the next elevator, the clock would strike 12 AM and the warning would pop up, and I'm just like. "I'll take the penalty." If I was playing Stardew, I'd make a different decision.

But maybe that's just me. I don't like playing a game where I'm forced to decide if it's worth it to use resources to make food or just stand around for like 5 minutes because my stamina is half full at 6:00 AM because to me, that is stressful. And this much is hardly a challenge. If I screw it up, it's not that big of a deal, I move on and reschedule some plans I had for the next 24 minutes.

But I can think of a couple different suggestions that I would really enjoy (and I think you would too) which would help with the time management problem:

- make a spell that allows you to turn back the time 2 hours. This limits the amount of times you get to do it while giving you an out when you need it, so you don't end up abusing it and losing the purpose of the penalty to begin with. You can, of course, use 2 spell slots to turn back time 4 hours.

- TELEPORT SPELL! This is almost a guaranteed future addition. I imagine some teleport points would be where the dragon statues are.

I agree with every point you made. I really hope they change the in game clock. Maybe they could also do what Coral Island has done by including a time slider setting, allowing you several different time settings for your day length.

I love Mistria. It's the only farming sim that has made me feel the same way Stardew did. I don't like comparing farming sims to Stardew, but Mistria rekindled my love for the genre. There's so many great things about this game, and I really can't wait for future updates!

I just started a new little educational channel that uses cozy games as a way to teach English, and I love your channel! It's helped me find great games to play…thanks so much!

Tip if you’re running out late from the mine if you have the perk when you go up quickly go back on to the first floor then out again and you’ll have a speed boost for a few seconds

I think a better “penalty” for not going to bed on time would be something like, making the screen darken and giving you zero stamina and ability to interact with any crafting tables until you go to bed and wake up tomorrow. And you’d wake up with slightly less health and stamina still.

I agree I absolutely HATE the loosing 4 hours penalty when there’s already so little time in the day, , , I’d almost prefer loosing items to loosing time, , ,

Ha, I was wondering if you would name drop Stardew! I also am shocked that a pixel game has you hooked, but I'm glad you're liking it! I agree that it is very, very cute. I enjoy watching people play it because it's so similar to Stardew, but that is the one that has my heart so I'll likely just stick with it. Great video!

This game looks super cute and I would love to buy it! But your pain points are mine too. I have enough stress in my life running around and trying to get everything done, I don't want to also do that in my precious free time. And I would prefer different difficulty modes for combat. If they ever add a choice for the length of the day and the difficulty level of combat, I will happily buy it. Otherwise I will stick to games like Sun Haven and Coral Island which have that already implemented.

I like the day legnth to be honest. I go to bed late most days and feel like I've done a good days worth of work unlike in stardew where unless I'm in the mines will probably be in bed at 4pm. You dont lose resources when you pass out either so it doesnt matter if you fudge it.

Oh I ignored the warning to go home? Guess ill go fishing instead of mining.
