For people, who asked "why don't they just steal star destroyers and use them?" It's actually answered in the comics (canon), the Rebels doesn't have that many people to spare, Star Destroyers needs a lot of people to fully operate. Leia actually hijacked one, but only had a few thousands of workers, this makes the star destroyer a "ghost ship" because they couldn't even detect enemy ships.

The CR-90 Corvette and the Hammerhead Corvette are honestly the most efficient vessels of the Rebel Fleet. The CR-90 is faster, whereas the Hammerhead can take or give a beating. Stolen or purchased corvettes were, after all, what started the buildup of the Rebel Alliance.

Pelta's wings arent added by the Rebels. Rather, it can fold back to the sides of the engine, as shown in the clone wars, thus making them harder to notice for most people.

The old Complete Guide to Ships had some of my favorite world-building in the description of the GR-75 medium transport. Apparently, the Alliance picked them up at steep clearance discounts - dimes on the dollar for a ship capable of rapidly loading, moving, and unloading as much sheer tonnage as the GR-75 can - because Gallofree Yards, the company that built the ships, was going out of business.

However, the Alliance techs maintain that even with fire-sale prices, they were still _robbed._ Not only are the ships painfully slow and about as durable as a soap bubble, they also managed to be a maintenance nightmare, despite a pretty simple design. The Alliance fleet's techs ended up breaking down something like one in five GR-75s for parts to keep the rest running.

Still, if you need a container ship on a shoestring budget, the GR-75's your man, so the Alliance keeps these deathtraps in service.

The devs of the next Star Wars RTS space battle game need to watch this video.

I would like a list of lesser known commercial ships or pirate ships that the Rebels could use.

You forgot about the YKL-37R Nova Courier & the Incom X-4. Hopefully you won’t forget the more Obscure ships that computer/video game players have piloted & such…

It would be cool to see a mod in EAW that based the ships cost off these numbers. It would really change the way you’d have to play.

The CR90 has 6 added guns, including the 4 on top of the Escape pods. The 49 GR transports wasn't bought, they were given to the Rebel Alliance for free when the company went out of business. And if I remember the evacuation of hoth correctly one was converted to a medical transport, and another was transporting the airspeeds. They also had for extra engines added to make them a bit faster.

Used ship dealer to desperate rebels: "Well you see with the hammerhead, she won't be winning any beauty contests anytime soon, but she is solid. Ship like this, be with you till the day you die"

I use to play the old 6D only Star Wars rpg with some friends of mine and I use to love getting a GR-75 and making it a sleeper combat ship. Upgrade the hull armor, shielding and hyperdrive and leave the original as a backup that would be used normally. I would put fire linked heavy ion cannons on it and a fire linked proton torpedo launcher . IT had so much cargo space and that was all that was required for upgrading a ship in that game. We use to have 2 teams and would play against each other it was so much fun and the first time i did it such a surprise. Always wondered why the rebels didn't do something similar.. Like lots on ion cannons and torpedo ships..

The VCX-100 has an equivalent design in Elite: Dangerous. The Asp Explorer shares its distinctive shape and cockpit placement, is almost the same size, and is also known for its range and modularity. The Asp will get you anywhere, and it'll do it fast. It can also be outfitted as a light freighter, thanks to all that module space.

I fondly remember many of these ships from the very underrated video game Star Wars: Rebellion - great video! I wish they'd remake that game!

Great video. You should do one of top smugglers and their ship specs.

So when talking about the VR-75 medium transport, at least in Legends, the Rebels where able to get them for Pennie’s on the dollar. The company that made them went bankrupt and were pretty much just giving them away
