Here is how Inpaiting works in Stable Diffusion. It's a lot easier than you think. And it can create Deepfakes like you wouldn't believe. Here is a guide. But also a moral warning! Educate your friends and loved ones. In the Age of AI, no image can be trusted unless you know the source.

You know what I've had a ton of fun with? Taking images of destroyed things. Take, for instance, a broken clock mechanism. Interrogate the image, and it will say something like: "broken clock with gears scattered across a white table". Then you remove all references to damage, or even type it into the exclusion prompt. And then you can control the denoise weight, in order to create a bunch of steps where the broken object turns back into what it might've been. Same thing can be done in Deforum, if you go with an input image and 2D/3D animation. Start with a broken thing, and get AI to fix it. Find a wrecked car, and watch it unbend itself back into shape, provided AI has the make in its database. It's an immense amount of fun. Uncollapse ruins. Find out what a skeleton looked like as a person. Though in most cases you can maybe get to 80% prompt 20% image, before all coherence is lost. Increasing steps also makes the transition a bit smoother in my case. Around 75, up from default 50.

Like you said, it's here to stay, like it or not.
My thoughts are that it is morally important to support SD and open source technologies so that powerful tools like these are ubiquitous, making sure that everyone is aware of the tech and can better defend themselves against bad actors. If it is a commercial model only then many more people will be vulnerable. I say that in general regarding AI and related tech.

Very simple and straight forward tutorial. Thank you. In my previous experience with Deepfakes, the challenge is to select the "base" person with the face shape that is close to the subject you're deepfaking and that was quite a challenge. Our eyes are so well trained into picking up nuances that makes the final result look uncanny. Yet, we're sure this will eventually be solved and that is when "meeting" face to face for real will become the most authentic form of social.

Wonderful. More speech and more information is always better. Maybe people shouldn't believe everything they see on the internet... as it has been since the 90's.
