Jennifer Lawrence seems to think she is the first female that has ever starred in an action film.

The reason why Sigourney Weaver was so incredible in Aliens, is because her character didn't possess any insane abilities. She wasn't overly smart or strong, she didn't fly around and walk through walls. She was a average scientist who had no idea how to fight or operate guns etc. Her weaknesses were on display the entire time and she managed to get herself though it. The role wasn't some stupid caricature of female empowerment and everyone loved it.

Goat.

Fun fact, the movie Alien (1979) originally was written for a man lead actor. But then, the director Rielly Scott watched hunger games in 2012 and changed his mind and gave the lead role to Sigourney Weaver.

I honestly have no regard for even one Hollywood actor anymore. I stopped going to movies or watching them. Can’t stand this mentality!

What about Charlie's Angels???? There wasn't just one female lead. There were THREE.

Sigourney Weaver’s performance in Aliens landed her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, incredibly unreal at the time and still very much rare for a Sci-Fi film. Let that sink in.

What angers me more than idiotic comments such as those made by Lawrence are celebrity interviewers who never challenge anything celebrity dimwits say. They will smile and nod at all the verbal farts made by celebrities.

Child needs to apologize to Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hamilton RIGHT NOW.

What courage it must have taken to be a trailblazer like her. On the bleeding edge, taking risks. Hats off to the first female action star! Wait, what is a woman again?

I heard she also invented agriculture, and laid the groundwork for society as we know it. Truly inspiring.

Linda Hamilton
Michelle Yeoh
Cynthia Rothrock
Brigitte Nielsen
Geena Davis
Angelina Jolie
Charlize Theron

All of these action stars were established well before Jennifer Lawrence, who became known as an action star with The Hunger Games series starting in 2012.

Let’s take a minute to thank Ms. Lawrence for her trailblazing in physics and chemistry…Marie Curie would never have had a chance without her.

Jennifer Lawrence was, indeed, the first female action star, I'm just upset she didn't mention how she was sitting next to Rosa Parks, worked as Mother Theresas assistant and was in lockstep with Joan of Arc.
She's a true female hero.

"Boys cannot identify with a female lead". Myself and many other men my age favorite movie growing up was Aliens starring Sigourney Weaver. Not just liked it, but thought it was the best movie ever made. It is still one of my favorite movies of all time. A lot of men liked Kill Bill. Men loved Tomb Raider. Men liked Underworld. Men liked Resident Evil.
There are a lot of other action movies with female leads I don't like, but it's because they suck. Not because the lead is female.
Then there are a lot of movies with female leads in other Genre's that men like. I loved Lola Rennt and I Spit On Your Grave. Lots of men like Horror with Female leads. The Ring, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street. Few men "couldn't identify with the female lead."

She is not even the first one to embarrass herself 🤣

what kills me is that the interviewer was so inept as to not ask her "what about..." and just grinned and nodded her head in agreement like an idiot. my main beef with the majority of people under the age of 35 is that they don't realize that time didn't begin on the day that they were born...

Lawrence never saw Diana Rigg in "The Avengers" in 1961, Lynda Carter as "Wonder Woman" in 1975, Lucy Lawless as "Xena - The Warrior Princess" in 1995. And so many more actresses in action movie roles.
Viola Davis didn't know that either. Don't these people ever study about the film industry before doing interviews or being interviewed? Don't they watch old series and movies? Ignorance is definitely not a bliss.

What's really upsetting about this, isn't so much that Jennifer made the claim, it's the fact that the interviewer just sat there and AGREED with it.
