There's a great stoic quote and it goes something like "the best revenge is not to be like your enemy." I know It's not necessarily a Christian quote However, I still think it helps. God bless..

Evil I met early in life. I am grateful that I was raised with "pray for those who persecute you". There's a couple that I've been praying for for 40 years😁 This practice does leave me with a sense of peace, and not anger. Leave God's job to God.

I was assaulted about ten years ago, I knew the man and didn’t know what to do. Being Catholic, the next day I went to mass in the morning. When Father stood up to begin, he quoted scripture saying, “ the Lord thy God will protect you from the violent man”. I will never forget that. How fortunate are we to have such a merciful and loving God. Thanks be to God.

Thank you Keith for this reminder. Vengeance just makes our hearts sick. In these moments it is an opportunity to take these injustices and unite them to Jesus on the cross and to pray for those who have hurt us even when it’s painful.

Vengeance doesn't solve anything either. It feeds the hate or hurt like gasoline fuels a fire. He knows us so well and understands that praying for our persecutors shrinks them from monsters into fallen human beings like us in need of the Father's mercy. And if you don't want this for your enemies, then pray to want it. Don't give up, He will be faithful to this prayer. 🙏

There is a difference between forgiveness and reconciliation. We are all called to forgive, but sometimes, there could not be a reconciliation
