Natalie Portman & Tessa Thompson On What It Really Takes to Act in the MCU - Thor: Love and Thunder

preview_player
Показать описание
In the continuing discourse of superhero movies versus cinema, Thor: Love and Thunder's Tessa Thompson ("King Valkyrie") and Natalie Portman ("Jane Foster" / "The Mighty Thor") describe the appeal of getting to play in the MCU from an acting perspective. Hint: it involves a certain "lack of dignity".

This Thor sequel is also a reunion of many kinds: Portman reuniting with Chris Hemsworth's Thor as his love interest who gets to wield Mjolnir, but also real-life friends Portman and Thompson reuniting after working on Alex Garland's Annihilation (2018). Both actors reflect on the differences of acting in movies of vastly different tones with your friends.

You chose to go with that one line from her for a cheap thumbnail like that? That statement can be so easily misinterpreted taken out of context
Way to go IGN

It requires a HUGE lack of dignity to work for IGN

Trying to do anything in America requires a “lack of dignity”. Being human now days pretty much requires “lack of dignity”

Roses are red. Violet’s are blue. MCU died with End Game. But you already knew.

So, you guys do everything in front of a green screen. Meanwhile, Tom Cruise flies airplanes, fighter jets, films g-loc's... Thor is like I'm watching some animation

So filming requires physical stamina and a lack of dignity, so it’s like filming pornography?

IGN needs to tell this interviewer to stop talking with her hands. She is not conducting a symphony. Also ... stop looking at the cheat card so much. People feel more comfortable when they feel like they are in a conversation. Not so much when they are asked predetermined questions on a card. Subliminally to the actor/actess it can give the feeling they are taking an oral exam and could make them feel stressed and uncomfortable.

Well, first you need to be able to act. Not sure why these two are even being interviewed.

Clearly, look at how they degraded Thor.

This interviewer seems like it's her first time, or she lost a bet and had to do this.

You don't ned to be an actor to get an MCU gig, you just need to be a really well known celebrity. If you can actually act, then that's just a bonus.

It doesn't require much to be in the MCU. There has been so many examples of amateurish acting

Valkyrie was so much better in Ragnarok, she just seemed bored the whole time in love and thunder.

The quality of Marvel movies was never high, so to see them fall so low...
