I would definitely use a noise suppressor too. It helps get better staccato rhythm sounds! I’ve got mine hooked up with the 4 cable method and the Ibanez Tube Screamer!! Sounds awesome for a 40 watt amp.. that’s the practice amp set up!!

Sorry, but James himself said he hated tube screamers. You won't get his tone like that. You'd be better off with software of some type. Otherwise it's mesa boogie plus parametric in the fx loop.
