James actually uses less gain than you imagine and it's how he gets the clarity in his picking. If you turn up the gain a ton then it all turns to mush when you're doing fast rhythm parts.

These boss's tend to run pretty low on the treble frequencies, i always have to turn my treble up more so it doesnt sound like its being covered with a blanket. The tone studio software made me decide to keep my katana 100w head lol
