Thanks for the update Hugh! Aside from a small issue/bug with the new stabilization feature, it's definitely helping me with some R5 VR video I shot in Europe a couple months ago!

There is one odd issue though with the post stabilization. I filmed a few clips with people dancing at a wedding on a tripod. The EOS VR Utility software actually CREATED artificial camera shake into the exported video clips that wasn't there in the original clips! It did it for both the Blur Correction and Trackability stabilization. After reviewing the clips in my VR headset, I've concluded that the camera shake was tied to the amount of people dancing within frame. The more people dancing the more camera shake was added, and vice-versa. It's like the software thinks the people dancing is from camera shake, so it tries to stabilize them, hence added camera shake. Luckily those tripod clips were good enough without post stabilization that I can still use them. Hopefully Canon can improve upon their post stabilization analysis algorithms!

Thank you for another great tut. I just tried the latest EOS VR utility on PC. With my 4080, the stabilization doesn't use GPU at all. The CPU stayed at 100% for a very long time just for a 2 minute video. Also, I can't figure out how to do stabilization in a batch.
Any help is much appreciated 🙏🙏🙏

11:52, you mentioned the VR headset feature in premiere pro is completely broken. Do you mean the "Adobe immersive environment" is grayed out? It's August 2024. This option in my latest premiere pro is still gray.

After trying the VR Utility again, even with denoise at maximum and sharpness dialled in, it still delivers sub par results with noisy black levels. Resolve denoising unfortunately seems to be the only solution which as you mentions is very render time intensive.

Another issue is only being able to export to DPX or HEVC on windows, no ProRes Option.

As much as I would like to use the utility for ease of use, the Mistika VR -> ProRes -> Resolve workflow seems to be the best for now.

I just got the R5C and love it, but as with every other VR venture I have been on, what I envision and what the software allows do not match up. My external power and CF Express have not arrived so I figured I would learn the photo side by taking some timelapses. I got everything setup and took my photos but when I tried using VR Utility to convert the images, I learn that only the jpgs can be loaded. That is like going to a vineyard, paying for their most exotic experience, and then they bring out a bag of cheap pretzels and a Schlitz. I am sure I will love using the software for raw videos, but jpg only on the photo side is a real bummer.

Do you have any videos where you explain how to do simple edits for 360VR video in Davinci? Im trying to learn how to use Davinci for this process, combine 360 video, light editing etc.

Excellent content my friend! I would like to know if it would be possible to connect to UBS studio for Live production ? I have a project that I'm going to do live in the studio with a green background, and I believe that this lens will suit me.

When you shoot 8K30 do you add interpolated frames in post? I used to have the Vuze Xr and the low framerate ruined the footage. I wonder if a future headset player will be able to add them for you.
