When my children were babies and sitting up, I used a cart seat liner that snapped around both front and back so that the metal was covered. I really liked that it was padded and also kept a clean environment for sitting. Your Cosco shopping was quite a haul and glad you were able to make it happen with baby Violet, she's quite a trouper.
