In the latest insight-style video, Hashem discusses the idea of brand loyalty. Why we have it? When we should? And, looking at the good and bad reasons to have brand loyalty. Whether it comes to the camera brand you love, the film you choose to shoot, where you shop, or the film labs and other services you tend to stick with... It's something worth examining a bit beneath the surface level!

Brands are only companies that are absolutely not interested in you as an individual. The only thing that is important for companies is money. So brand loyalty is absolutely unnecessary and may even limit creativity in the end.

YES!! Thank you for this. At the end of the day, cameras are only just that, cameras. They do the same thing with slight variations. :-D

My choice is more based on what lenses I have.

I keep track of any other camera brand activity, but never had an itch to switch from Canon. Always with the best.

I used to be very blind to just following a brand that I used and trashing the rest. I went from Nikon, to Canon, to Fujifilm digitally, and now that I only really shoot film, I’m more inclined to try everything and anything available. I push to trust myself and the results I want to achieve rather than follow a specific brand due to popularity. I chose my Leica M2 due to its amazing build quality and even with having that I still am curious to try out other rangefinders, voigtlander beds as, canon P or 7, Nikon s2, even picked up a mamiya 6 to try out. It’s all about what type of camera resonates with you, not the brand, just how I’ve grown to see it.

Thank you for this video. I do agree. Nowadays a lot of Youtubers say that without a Leica no hope. I hope it is not true because i can't offer one, and as a beginner in film photography i hope i'll be able to produce beautiful images with my own cheap material...

Loved the video! I used to be like that too but I tend to try new things or brands from time to time now.
It's like traveling : you'll see other perspectives or philosophies and it will make you grow.
The Canon fiber is quite strong in the family : my grandpa gave me his Ftb QL, my dad has a Canon DSLR. My first mirrorless was a Canon. I got a Canon Prima for my girlfriend to start film. And yet, pretty recently I hesitated between an A-1 and a F3. I went for the Nikon and so far I love it and really don't regret it (the F-mount compatibility is brilliant). We just need to stay open minded in general!

Great video man! Couldn't agree more. Being loyal for good reasons, such as they make products that agree with you, isn't bad, I for one love Panasonic cameras, the features they value is what I value, however more often than not I push people towards Sony or Canon because those cameras seem to appeal to the larger market in what people want from cameras. But being loyal to the point where you fail to see where the brand may be letting you down or putting other people down for liking another brand is rediculous and is only harming yourself. Great video!

Also just watched the new restrictions for metro Melbourne! Hope you are staying safe and find an outlet for your photography and creativity while I'm stage 4 lockdown. Gonna be tough! I'm personally in regional so I have the luxury to go for works around beautiful bush and mountain landscapes, I can't imagine what it's like in metro ATM! Stay safe man!

Great subject matter Hashem! This why I shoot all gamma of cameras and film grain... They all have there weaknesses and strengths! Ones perception is only ones perception! It's why my IG account remains in the low thousands and my viewers are those that appreciate what I do. Learning is knowledge and without it... How do you know that what is being said about one or the other being the best in the market! Great little short Hashem!

I own a Canon 70D, a Sony A7rII, a Nikon F2, a Nikkormat FT2, and a Mamiya 645, and I love them all!

Still making my way through all your videos since subscribing and have not been disappointed yet. Totally agree on this subject matter, but my wife still can't understand why I have so many film cameras from different manufacturers in various formats and a fridge full of all sorts of film!

For me, brand loyalty depends on which lens mount system I buy into haha.

"Because you can bet that brand does not feel obligated to you..." Damn, that hurt! Hahaha, it's sooo true. The more your comfortable with these ideas, the better and happier you'll be. I tell my wife, "Listen, your job doesn't give a f&^% about you, if you die tomorrow, they will most likely replace you tomorrow." Sad truth in most cases. So search for your own happiness is key :) Great video brotha.

I shoot Nikon cameras with Nikon and Voigtlander lenses. I shoot Leica cameras with non-Leica lenses 98% or more the time. But I am loyal to Ilford film as a B&W film shooter haha. They tend to give better prices for 100’ rolls of film where I live and I really support them as a business and their vision as a company.

I guess if you buy into a cameras eco system pays to stick with it over the longrun. Lenses etc. Unless you have the cash to splash

Hey Hasham. Well chiselled my man. Awesome stuff. I subscribe to the notion should a company withdraw a product that you like and works well for you then you should direct your attention to an alternative brand or product. Unfortunately, Fujifilm is a case example. Why support them when they withdraw quality filmstocks in an environment where growth in film is apparent? Hence I will not support or consider any of their APS-C line up.

I hope you and your family are all ok with what’s going on down there in Melbourne. Hopefully it doesn’t get that bad up here in Sydney but I think it will. Stay safe mate.

I don’t really have any brand loyalty. I like products for their sake. I’m very critical about most company’s I own products from. I just bought a couple of rolls of Fuji Superia X-Tra because I didn’t shoot Fuji in a while and I want to them to keep producing the few film they still do.
