Being Truthful - How Honesty Nourishes Love (02/15/2017)

The grounds of happiness, loving relationships and a just and flourishing society is honesty. And yet our current times are characterized by a plethora of deception - both societally, and often in more subtle ways, in our personal lives. This talk examines the deep conditioning we have to deceive others, and to avoid facing and acknowledging our own vulnerability. We then explore how we can commit ourselves to deepening our truth telling, and in so doing, creating a climate of integrity and trust that can lead to a more compassionate world.

Dear Tara I am so thankful for the way you go to the roots of why we do things, because there is always some reason or unconscious cause for which we can ultimately be UNDERSTOOD, not judged as we would be if we just look at the 'wrong-doing' that is the result of the misunderstanding .... the fear of not being accepted is such a primal urge in us so its no surprise that this survival mechanism may become distorted and cause much greater issues ... this realisation is the truth of love .. it doesn't look at the 'crime' or make our mistakes into 'sin', but sees through to the real reasons that we get ourselves in situations where we feel we have to disguise ourselves to manipulate the response we need. You always touch on the essential innocence of life, as it always arises in nature, and the LOVE that is behind it and the source of everything. THIs means we can look at our mistakes not with the kind of judgement, criticism or shame that blocks us from understanding their causes, but with gentle understanding that can help us more easily forgive and transform ourselves, not through force or punishment but with the kind of gentleness, humour and deep honesty that is the thread woven through all your talks and all that you offer ... thankyou so much ! x

The story of the Fall is not like you say though .... the usual story goes that God's angel drove Adam and Eve out of paradise .. maybe that is where the misunderstanding arose ?

Thank you so much for being honest about anger...I have been in a dishonest relationship (and manipulated by the step-daughter) and my anger is thru the roof! I can only remove myself from the relationship, to stop the harmful acting out, and resolve this anger on my own. I feel horrible, but it's real and human, and I need support in being human.
