Mega Man Battle Network is a video game developed by Capcom for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) handheld console. It is the first title of the Mega Man Battle Network series of games. It was originally released in Japan as a GBA launch game on March 21, 2001 and was released later that year in North America and Europe. It was also released via the Wii U Virtual Console in Japan on July 9, 2014, in Europe on July 24, 2014, and in North America on July 31, 2014. Battle Network takes place during the 21st century in a world where society and everyday life is driven by the internet. Users are able to interact with and virtually explore nearly any electronic device using highly advanced, online avatars called "NetNavis". The game follows a young boy named Lan Hikari and his NetNavi MegaMan.EXE as they solve a series of crimes instigated by the "WWW (World Three)" organization. Rather than share the platform gameplay of its predecessors, Battle Network is a tactical role-playing game (RPG) in which the player respectively controls Lan in the game's outside world and MegaMan.EXE in its virtual world. Battles take place in real-time; special abilities called "Battle Chips" can be accessed to fight off the numerous computer viruses present in the game's cyberspace environments. Battle Network was created amidst the rise of collectible card games, as shown by its collectible Battle Chips that are used to create "Folders" (like card decks). According to producer Keiji Inafune, the development team wanted Battle Network to identify specifically with younger gamers by creating a setting resembling the real world and a gameplay model that mixes traditional action and RPG elements. Battle Network received positive reviews from critics. Its unconventional combat system was given significant praise and its presentation was well-regarded. However, its storyline was met with mixed opinions. The game was followed by a number of sequels and spin-off titles, as well as other media.

Mega Man Legacy Collection is a series of video game compilations based on Capcom's Mega Man franchise. Each compilation features several playable video games from one of the Mega Man sub-series and adds new gameplay features and bonus content such as concept artwork. These compilations were developed internally at Capcom and were released between 2015–2023 for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with the exception of the original Legacy Collection which was developed by Digital Eclipse and also released on Nintendo 3DS.

The first Mega Man Legacy Collection was released in 2015, followed by a second volume in 2017; together, they compile the first 10 numbered entries in the original Mega Man series. These were followed by the Mega Man X Legacy Collection in 2018, which features all eight numbered Mega Man X titles split between two releases.[2] In 2020, the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection was released, which includes all four of the Mega Man Zero games and both Mega Man ZX games. An upcoming compilation, Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection[d], is scheduled for a 2023 release and will include all six main games from the Mega Man Battle Network series, including both versions of later titles, for a total of 10 games.

Capcom really made selling your soul to the devil into a game mechanic.

Dark Chips are severally underrated in BN4 & BN5. Can’t lie imagine your opponent is about to destroy you & you Finish him with a Dark Sword.

I will never forgive my sister for using a dark chip on my playthrough BN4...and she saved the file. She didn't know. The chips were busted. She barely knew how to play, but I when got back to it and saw that 1hp missing gone forever, I almost foamed at the mouth.
