I agree! The Roland DJ 707M is a great controller! I have had mine for about a year and it’s well built to last. One thing that no one talks about is that you can use the second USB port for perfect sound to your smart phone for live streaming!!! Highly recommend it 👍🏼

I was literally thinking about buying new Controller, like 5 minutes ago, and now I see this video =)
(btw, i've bought two controllers earlier that fits my budget and needs, all thanks to your videos). Thanks, and greetings from Bosnia&Herzegovina !!

Love my S4 Mk3. Been on Traktor for years and didn’t want to switch. For a mobile DJ it’s great.

Mixars Primo - often overlooked and most people haven't even heard of it.
Additional inputs - Phono / line on either channel. TRS or XLR mic. Additional aux.
Outputs - TRS booth. XLR and RCA master. Independent volume, eq and echo for the mic / aux + independent sampler volume. 6.4 & 3.5mm headphone outs.
100mm pitch sliders. Decent size jog wheels. Needle strip. Independent fx parameter controls per deck / effect. Cross fader curve and reverse controls. Cue / master mixer and split cue control.
Built-in hardware echo, filter, noise and crush effects with independent control per channel. Plus all of the other controls you'd expect for looping, censor, reverse etc. etc.
The built-in soundcard is also pretty impressive at this price point. Unlocks Serato Pro (I personally use VirtualDJ though)
Only real short coming is that it's only a 2-channel output which you'd have to share between the 4-decks / phono inputs if you needed them but the separate mic / aux and sampler volume controls offset that a little. Also the jog wheels are a bit heavy and have too high a resistance if you're someone who likes doing backspins.
Comes in at the bottom of this price range. I was considering all of these when I came across the Primo and pound for pound it outweighed all of them for what I wanted. In fact I've just checked and Bax are currently offering it for £312 which is a steal.

I own the Roland DJ-707M and must admit it is the most compact complete controller by miles. Personally I like it more than my Prime 2 which is saying plenty.

I looked into the DDJ-800 for a while. but for what I want.. I decided to save up a little more and go for the PRIME2 stand alone system.

Thank you Phil for your valuable information. It keeps us current and efficient.

The number 3 is my number 1 because it has to be. Traktor is bad, Serato doesn't do it for me so the DDJ-800 was the only choice. Are the effects hardware? I thought they only worked if plugged into a computer, although its been a while since I tried that.

One controller I feel needs a mention is the mixars primo, it has all the outputs and inputs, decent jog wheel, long pitch faders and mega loud output with excellent sound quality. It's well featured and has a great price I bought one and love it.

So much hate for the flx6. In Australia it cost 750 (560 us). The ddj800 costs 1800 (1350 us). Of course u can play it out, so long as you have a case. And the rca's can be easily converted for a dollar or two. If u don't like merge and jog cutter don't use them

Great review as always. None of those get my juices flowing. Reckon next week will be the Pioneer vs Denon big fight. I'll be drooling over those. Can't wait!

Question... now that Prime2 has access to VDJ, would this now be included in this list.. Yes I have seen priced at £999

I have MCX 8000 Denom and i'm not really convenced by My sell. What's your opinion about it?

I think that DJs slept that Traktor controller. I have made a ton of money with it and the moving Jog wheel are fantastic. I think people buy the Rane One because it’s RANE

so many options on controllers are not necessary to the average dj. And a pro Dj can do more with less every time so I say buy what you need for options and nothing more. I personally have never used a mic while spinning, who has the time for that when your going off! But I am an underground type, not the wedding dj type lol

Phil, could you please explain some of the downsides of The Roland DJ 707M?
Based on the reviews I have watched I consider this controller my favorite to buy, however I would like to have a clear picture about it. Cheers

Whats the sound output like on the ddj800? I've got the ddj400 and the sound quality is quite poor having to crank my amps volume very high. I'm wanting to upgrade to either the ddj800 or ddj1000 but worry the sound quality will be poor.

Which controller would you recommend that has XLR outputs and Serato compatability ...
