Russia To Test NATO’s Article Five

The German intelligence chief says that Russia will test NATO’s article 5 to prove that the alliance will not stand together. Adding that Russia’s continued hybrid attacks on the alliance make it likely that NATO will have to consider invoking Article 5. Article 5 is the “Attack on one is an attack on all” clause. It's the most important part of NATO. The only time it’s been invoked was after 9/11 by the United States, which led the entire alliance & Ukraine to invade Afghanistan. Trump has appointed General Kellogg to be the special envoy to Ukraine and Russia and has given him the highest title in the White House: Assistant to the President. Kellogg has advocated for a negotiated settlement to end the war and in order to get there, he says the U.S. needs to “escalate to deescalate”. Which means to basically give Russia the finger and flood Ukraine with so many weapons and resources that Russia eventually agrees to peace. He told Congress “you have to arm Ukraine because you can’t trust the Russians”, And he has written that a peace deal should come with Ukraine getting a bilateral defense treaty with the U.S. The US is pressing Ukraine to begin drafting 18 year old men. Currently, Ukraine has a million soldiers and their minimum draft age is 25. US officials say they need at least 160,000 additional troops, but they believe the number is probably more than that.

As someone who lived through the WW3 terrors of the early mid 80's, I can't say I'm happy to go through it again. The Soviets seemed more mentally/politically stable than the Putin regime. The Reagan government was more firm and dedicated but also more sensible than Trump is.
Oh well, I'm over 50, if I die, I die. Humans stink, shame about the wildlife though. Nature deserves better.
