"If my solar4 charge controller has a max output of 60 amps," writes Paul. "Does this limit the power of the solar panels I can install? (I currently have 280 watts)."

Questions: 1. when installing a Victron Orion charger on a wood board should a metal pate or aluminum foil placed under the fins to refute the heat?
2. A Lithium battery bank has 3 batteries next to each other but the 4 th battery is about 2 feet away. Victron rep stated that is unacceptable while the ReLion rep said any separation up to 10; is ok. Is there a general rule or up to the specific battery manufacturer?
3. I intend on feeding the Orion chargers from a common bus connecting the output of the 120 Amp alternator thru an isolator and the 60 Ampboat charger.
At this point I have 3 100Ahr ReLion Lithium batteries in the bank. I have an AGM 105 Air engine and 2 AGM 80Ahr bow thruster battreies fed thru the isolator.

Another great topic. Just as a heads up to fellow boaters, my boat is out of the water in the UK and the solar panel removed. However, I left the MPPT connected to the battery via fuse. The circuitry and LED were then being sustained by the leisure battery so I ended up with only 11.6v on the 12v battery after several weeks. Eeek! The MPPT is now disconnected and the battery recharged. I hope I didn't ruin the battery ( this is only time the voltage has dropped this low ).

Great video, following your advise placing 100 watt solar panel. The fuse connection before the batteries can I use a 10A mini fuse or do I need a regular fuse?

can a battery charger turn into a sort of inverter eg; leak power out of a battery when disconnected from shore power when mains fixture is left on .eg phone . hand held radio charger

Quick question is 16 volts ok for my batteries? Seems that is the default setting before the 30a Renogy wanderer controller shuts off power to the flooded batteries. This is on my boat 2 house and 2 start batteries. Only load on the house batteries is a 110v fridge from inverter and stereo with an amp. What is weird is my voltage gauge on my panel show 13.4 v when I test with a meter to the house bank it is 16v.

Thanks

if a boat has no earthed mains fixtures on the boat and only uses a mains battery charger. do you still need a galvanic isolator or isolation transformer in a marina?
