Do you have Chrohn's Disease (IBD) and and take Immunosurpressants? Are those immunosurpressants not working and you need to have surgery?

HIstorically, patients with IBD may have to delay their surgery to permit time to pass after the last dose of their immunosurpressant. They also may not have had their bowel reconnected at the time of surgery, and lived with an ostomy bag for months before they could be reconnected. While patients adapt to an ostomy bag, it remains a major concern for most patients.

In this video, I discuss some of the growing data that promotes using immunosuppressants even shortly before surgery. Not only may this data support patients going to surgery earlier, it also suggests patients can be reconnected at their initial surgery, which could avoid having an ostomy bag.
