the reason you had issues with your adapter is because the Kwikset tail piece is not symmetrical. it will either face right on a left handed door or opposite on a left handed door. when you moved your adapter to the lock you installed the same side effectively putting it on backwards... the adapters for the other common tailpieces would not have offered the same issue.

Does the battary has to change often? It will be really hard to manage if you are installing to your vacation home where you only go there when you are on vacation?

You are supposed to use the adapter to align the plate before tightening the screws to insure the lock turns freely without binding. Then place the adapter on the back of the August device to make it easier to mount the device to the lock plate.

Question: I'm looking to use this lock on an outside gate. my objective for the lock is that it cannot be opened manually (so someone can't simply reach over the fence and unlock it) I realize one side has no possible manual operation, but can the other side (inside portion) simply be opened by turning the cyclider? Or maybe it can be programed to overide any manual use and rely just on the smart use?

Can I use this if my lock is also controlling door opening? E.g. no extra handle to actually open the door, just an extra key turn? (one key turn unlocks, second turn opens door)

If someone has a cassette its not possible to install the august smart lock correct? Is there another smart lock that would accept a cassette instead?

I have it and it works great BUT it is a bit stiff when turning it to open by hand?? Is this normal or did I do something wrong??

could we use it with different kind of doors as the locker and and Knob  comes in One piece I don't think so so what i think we should change or style or frame for my door as i will change it i and to paint it again or what do you think ?
