0:10 - No, Science and Religion aren’t mutually exclusive but there is a lot in religion which contradicts proven science
2:00 - The problem with this argument is that one word that changes the premise completely - a cause of something and a cause for something are completely different - a cause of something is simply the activation of it whereas a cause for it suggests that there is a reason for it so this whole argument is illegitimate and even if this was unintentional, a cause of something doesn’t equate to a cause for something so just because something happened doesn’t mean there was a planned reason for it happening - things can just happen.
3:00 - there was a cause - they were stabbed but there wasn’t necessarily a reason.
6:15 - that's the most bullshit thing I think I’ve ever seen… - all morals are socially constructed - fact, there IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG only right or wrong for society.
Christians think god exists
God does not exist
Christians are wrong
How does that example work with you?
9:00 - I have no personal morals - I don’t think that I have any objective reason for doing or not doing anything but I still conform to society's morals because it is the acceptable thing to do
9:15 - Outside of society, those things don’t mean anything as if there is no society, there is nobody to do those things to.
10:00 - Atheists are allowed to believe in objective morality - it doesn’t have to have a reason - it can just be.
15:40 - unfortunately, we have a little thing called society, it does a wonderful job of reigning in these subjective ideas and saying that while these are subjective, we have rules in place for the society to run because if they didn’t society would just fall into anarchy and cease to work
11:00 - Atheism being false or not doesn’t prove Christianity right - they are not opposites, you still have to come up with a burden of proof which you don’t have. Also, disproving one of the atheist beliefs doesn’t disprove atheism, it just disproves atheism on that particular point - you people who try to disprove things such as atheism and science are like bilbo baggins - you see try to find one missing scale on the dragon in the hope that if you hit an arrow in that spot, the whole dragon will go down - knock out one scale, there are many more that you can’t.
12:25 - The human mind creates the meaning and purpose through society - you feel, in order to fit in, like you must prove your worth, to do this, you find a job that you “must” complete and congrats, your a functioning member of society, this feeling gives you value. The atheistic worldview doesn’t need to as humans do it subconsciously. If there was value and meaning then yes totally but there isn’t so this doesn’t work
