Our character in Poppy Playtime is assumed to be an employee that was involved in the creation in living toys. It's no doubt that The Prototype could have been a person who was turned into an abomination, and killed all the workers as his way of getting revenge against the ones who made him a monster.

now a lot of people think the assumed voice of the Prototype was done by Sean Crisden aka the voice of the ink demon due to how similar they sound but Michael Kovach tweeted out that he was the voice of it. this interesting because he also voices the scientist talking about the Prototype on the VHS tape.
