My daughter sees a rotary phone and I challenge her to try to use it

OMG, could you imagine someone who has grown up whit a type of technology doesn’t know how to use something completely new and unknown to them!!
Give the kid a break it’s not like she is going to see/use that type of phone anymore and you shouldn’t make fun and laugh on the internet for not knowing something on the first time. Teach her! That’s your job!

People will do this kind of stuff, and think it's the fault of the youth or whatever that young people don't know something noone taught them. My dad complained that when he was my age he knew much more about farming than I do. They sent me to a general highschool rather than a vocational farming school and act surprised that I don't have vocational farming knowledge.

If anything that is more of a mark of our time - older people failing to realise that knowledge has to be relayed and thinking the kids will magicaly learn the family trade by turning 18.

I was 9 when I learned how to use a rotary phone and they where still old

You have you keep youre finger in it and push it back so you can get to the next number quicker

This is BS, he’s a grown up for gods sake, you could figure it out with basic commonsense. There’s only so many ways it COULD work. It’s scary that this is the best our post smartphone generations have to offer. Seriously, we’re doomed.
