Energizer Ultimate Lithium Batteries....to Use or Not to Use?

In this video we look at the well known issue of corrosion from Alkaline Batteries. We know its not if but when these will corrode on us. The Ultimate Lithium claims to have 20 year shelf life, leak proof, and lightweight. They are also 4 to 5 times the price and the voltage output is a bit higher than the typical 1.6V of a standard Alkaline. So is it any applications for these that you can think of that they work well and worth the price difference? Let us know what you think in the comments. Thanks for watching!

I had an early digital camera that was hard on batteries. Those ultimate lithium were expensive but they tripled the run time. Never had them leak. The camera was Sony.

SomeCompanies probably make a deal with alkaline battery companies to strongly call for their product to be used in exchange for a kickback for advertising. A way to guard against alkaline battery leakage should be more relevant. If you have batteries in high-dollar gear, is best to evacuate the batteries when not using. That's a hassle, but some damage cannot be repaired. Consumer beware.

I lost 2 high-end multimeters because of battery leakage and both came with alkaline Energizers. Fortunately the first one got replaced under warranty and the second one I repaired by myself. Now I’m going to try these lithium Energizers. Hope they last *way* more than the alkalines as they’re very expensive. At least I’ll have some peace of mind knowing that my equipment will be free from battery leakage damage and they’ll last longer - these DMMs are power hungry and drain alkaline batteries in a heartbeat.

I’ve been using straight rechargeable lithium AA with a dummy cell in the past.
Great for toys!
Any toy with a motor runs better!

How about running 18650s or 14450?

I've used these particular Engergizer lithium primary cells in critical use and emergency applications. Medical/IFAK, emergency kits all have Li primaries for piece of mind. Costco/Kirkland Signature AA/AAA have been sold for me over the years. Duracell in AA leak a lot for me, Energized in AAA leak for me enough to be of note.

Energized lithium, Surefire, and Streamlight have never failed me but they are very expensive. I have yet to try the rechargable (R)CR123A.

For why they would suggest no lithium: Might be a hazard liability thing. Electrolyte leakage is far less destructive than lithium somehow burning with a firearm and its ammunition. That's purely speculation on my park.

Very Interesting find! Possibly the over voltage regulation is extremely poor or non existent. An inexpensive 9.1v or 10v zener might be the gate keeper. Very interesting At any rate it seems watch-dog” perhaps its simply a zener sniffer to zener its likely the regulation possibly the

Very informative. I knew batteries leaked over time. But knew nothing of lithium. (And being over charged)???
No wonder my metal detector didnt work with new batts. I bought the wrong ones.

I have gotten 3 times the life out of the ultimate lithium and they don't fade like in a flashlight. I wonder if the gun vault folks where referring to just lithium rechargeable.

Remotes that typically run for several years only run for a several months before having to change batteries .
This is true with any device I put these batteries in . Also I've bought a half dozen packages of various sizes over the last two years .
The short lifespan follows the energizer lithium battery, not a particular device .

I found that the Gillette Fusion Razor does not work well with a AAA Energizer Lithium battery.. The LED indicator glows even with the Razor off and drains the battery

My Energizer Ultimate lithium AA going Bad. Using 4 X in radio drawing 105 ma . Maximum. Radio stopped after 1hr running time. One battery was hot, Tested it . It was dead. I replaced it, with same type, then all four became low voltage. I note that he voltage is higher than normal 1.5v Usually around 1.8v Was I just unlucky, or can these not take the current drain in series. I do have more, but will try some Duracell high performance and see if I still get the same problem.

It was a couple of weeks I found this brand is making lithium 😂 but yeah noticed there’s cons and pros for certain things of this cells chemistry hmm my concern is how many mah this new AA lithium energizers really have didn’t think it could be a problem but yeah some older and newer little controls won’t accept over voltage when having so many batteries in series . Thanks for sharing

I have pretty much switched to the energizer lith. and nimh recharge. Understand about the nimh with 1.2vdc final charge. Haven't had problems since I've completed change over about 3 years past. Have not run into problem with energizers and the higher volt. That might require looking at schematics if available for item with ov problem. Have open to many devices that had problem with alkaline corrosion, thats my story and sticking to it. Haven't found the need for dummy battery. Do know that energizers last outside in my weather station all winter, can't say that for alkaline. The dummy battery interest me for the problem you found. Do you have a ready sorce for AA or AAA dumies? Interesting, thanks.

I finally bought these Ultaimate Lithium AA and AAA for my TV remotes and wireless mouse. I was so annoyed at paying 3x the cost lol but figured it would be worth it to not have to replace all the remotes in the house every few months per how it always goes with cheaper batteries. Literally after 3 months the one on my small laptop wireless mouse died with no warning while I was working. I find this absolutely absurd with all the hype of how much longer these are supposed to last. Never buying these again as 3 months does not justify $12 for 4 batteries as an understament for me! 😅

These batteries are nothing but worthless garbage . Over the last two years I've used them in remotes and the like .
In two years I've gone thru more batteries than the previous 15 years !
I now have a large package ...that should have lasted a decade ... about to run dry one year after buying it . I've used both AA and AAA same results GARBAGE .
These batteries are a ripoff that ill never use again
