Obviously warlocks can do way more than just that. It's just a very unexpected overlap!

"How do we bridge the gap between spellcasters and martial characters?"
"What if we just gave martial characters magic?"
"...You've solved it!"

"Dm will not put many cliffs in your campaign."
Counterpoint: if I was DMing for a group that set up like this with tons of push, I think I'd make the BBEG super tanky and hard to damage, make a long map for the fight with a cliff at the end, and let the party gradually shove him off the edge. Idk, seems like a fun fight with a bit of shaking up.

The DM will not put cliff in their camping, but they will try to throw you out of one 😂😂

To be fair warlock have been intruding in fighter's niche for all of 5e, was about time the reverse happened even if in a pretty meaningless way

Fighter: I know it was you... you're the one who killed the Cleric.
Warlock: Well... it does have a brain after all. And I thought you were just the token human fighter.
Fighter: Why would you betray your friend. He was helping you to break your pact and get your freedom and your soul back.
Warlock: It was all a lie. I never needed or wanted to be free. I've always been loyal to my master. He who saved me from death at a young age. I was to be killed as I was the bastard son of the High Prophet of our dead "friend's" church. I was was proof of his sins. As far as I was concerned... the Cleric and all of those so-called faithful are just as guilty as they ignored the truth.
Fighter: Most of them didn't know. How could they.
Warlock: It doesn't matter. I now have everything needed to summon my patron to this world. All thanks to fool of a Cleric. You can't stop me.
Fighter: Not if I kill you first.
Warlock: FOOL!!! YOU'VE CHOSEN TO CONFRONT ME ON A CLIFF! WITH POWERS U CAN PUSH YOU OFF WITH JUST A SINGLE BLAST. <Evil laugh>
Fighter: <Pulls out crossbow and shoots Warlock>
DM: And you fall off the cliffs.
Warlock's player: WHAT!!! THAT'S SO UNFAIR!!! HOW!!!
Fighter's player: New rules baby.
DM: Also you've been one shoting everything in my campaign because my setting takes place on floating Islands. And the one time someone does it to you... you complain about it.
Warlock's player: <Grumbiling> Fine, but my next charcter is going to be a bird folk Warlock.
Cleric's player: Can my next charcter also be Warlock.
DM: <DEATH GLARES>

One DnD did buff fighters quite a bit more than I initially thought

Which is funny because warlocks can replace fighters. At least in the most recent playtest, blade warlocks outdamage fighters in melee

One point of clarification, you can use the Battlemaster Fighter's Pushing Attack with any weapon, not a melee weapon, as is specified in their Sweeping Attack in the original PHB

Counterpoint: DMs weren’t putting cliffs to begin with due to the nonsense falling rules.

You just cant replace that hexblade darkness build or the orbital cannon build

Plot twist this already existed in 5e. Get a sling and the crusher feat and suddenly that warlock looks silly.

“Oh my gosh, you can do something at level 9 I can do at level 2.”

This just sounds like you are baiting for replies and mentions.

Alternativly, Push on Melee, Action Surge, Push on Crossbow

Combine that with Halfling and Crossbow expert and you can stand directly under people, push them up in the air for additional falling damage

I recognized swain, kayn, annie, and soul of cinder from league of legends and ds3

Crossbow has the push feature in the new rules

Honestly, I say good for them. Long were the days were Fighters was just a 2 Level Dip or some bland melee combatant (exception given to Echo Knight and Battle Master ofc).

There's a lot more things Fighters can do, and really, it's also good for Warlocks to look for some other role they can exercise with their traits.

Warlocks are one of my favorite classes and seeing everybody just default to Agonizing/Repelling Blast Machines was really boring.
