Tips on laying laminate flooring 🔨✅ #howto #diy

For anyone that asks, when laying down flooring, the direction is always the towards the longest throw of the installation (usually being the hallway or entrance of a home). This room is in the end of the hallway so I am planning ahead for when I do the hallway, but yes, in a normal job the floors would have went towards the window.

When walking you want to see leading lines, not lines that are horizontal (just talking about laminate flooring).

Hardest part is lining up that first row once you do that it all goes together quick. The door ways and closets can be difficult to cut around. A jig saw works nice for this.

Imo you should pop off floor trim. Put floor under it. Replace trim. Hides that expansion gap

It is the worst when you are laying floors and there is a nail head keeping you from laying it completely flat lol, wish i would have seen this before

Hey Juan I’m installing my LVP footing on my concrete slab with moisture barrier

When I walk on it it makes noise and has low and high spots

Do you recommend adding underlayment to help reduce the spots? The LVP has thin pad already

How do you get rid of the gap after installation? Without bleading especially door frame?

Is the molding supposed to cover the 1/4 inch gap???

Why would you ever run parallel to the shortest wall? Almost always running along the longer side of the room looks way better and makes smaller rooms feel more spacious

Pro tip, take off base, use spacers and use underlayment if its not already attached to the laminate.

Could I get by without having to use self leveling concrete and put the floors down also I asked because I know it’s cutting a corner and not they’re complete way, but the whole house is going to be getting torn down within a few years. I bought the floors a while ago 3/4 of the house is done where carpet was basically and now I chipped up the tile section and and that’s where I’m at now. I’ve sealed the concrete and I have the regular underlayment water barrier padding and then I bought this expensive stuff and haven’t found any videos of it being used. I did use a grinder and smooth the floor where high as much as possible so it’s just for the spots that are a little low. Nothing is a hole or even a quarter inch probably the lowest the rough concrete would be.

Dont leave a quarter inch gap from the trim now youre like over a half in from the wall. It would look better if you dont see the expansion gap.

Yeah that’s all nice and all, but you still need to lay a moisture barrier between the laminate and subfloor…..😅
