I thought I was being sensitive for not watching dating shows bc of how BW are treated. I’ve dealt w enough disrespect and rejection irl attending a PWI. Kordell was a breath of fresh air bc they chose someone who ACTUALLY likes and loves BW. I only watched LI S6 after seeing korena won lmao

Watching BW on reality dating shows makes me scared low key. Like I’m very certain that I’m going to see this Black woman be disappointed and disrespected but I can’t figure out how 🫣 it’s like a poorly paced horror movie almost every time.

I'm so happy you touched on this topic. I don't want black women coming on these shows anymore. I've been noticing many times black women just don't have the best options nor the best outcomes on these shows. It's a setup every single time. It's like we are here for their entertainment. This season of love island truly felt so safe to watch. I’ve watched the series since season 5 of UK and just knew it wasn’t for black women to thrive or feel seen, so seeing this season with Serena/Kordell and Jana/Kenny was really amazing.

I dont understand why people look at dating shows for actual dating. Its mostly broken/delusional people or actors. Ive known this since Real World in the early 90s and it wasnt new even back then.

Edit: there was a literal serial killer on a dating show in the 70s. There's a movie on Netflix about it right now.

The first time that this was proven correct was, I hate to say it, was Flava Of Love. So many beautiful young attractive black women lining up to be with a man who didn't even want marriage with any of them! EMBARRASSING!

JessieWoo has always stated this many time since reviewing Married At First Sight and Love is Blind. Love Island is no different--they cut scenes from Serena and Kordells relationship and they still won! They also gaven Kenny a edit that made it appear that he was bored of Janea-another fan fav on Love Island.

Honestly I wish we had more women of color behind the lens

Many of these shows are meant to cement the racial/social heirarchy. Keep mediocre looking WW/Non-Blk women on top. Yet, portray Blk wn as "undesirables." Reality shows in general SUCK. Especially, dating reality shows. Reality shows have done so much damage to Blk ppls image especially Blk wns its a shame.

I wholeheartedly agree with you!! I don't watch dating shows because they're extremely harmful, unhealthy, and unrealistic for women. I don't watch any traditional or mainstream media because most of it is low quality and harmful to my image as a Black American woman.

Tyler and Netflix put Ashley in a horrible position by lying about Tyler's children. But the fact that Tyler has allowed Ashley to keep speaking on the terrible situation with his kids after the show and spread obvious lies is diabolical. It's weird that Ashley is out here trying to do damage control for a situation that didn't involve her until she made herself a part of that situation.
