The MK Party says it wants a complete recount of the votes in the general elections after the dashboard and election results screens crashed on Friday at the IEC's national results and operations centre at Gallagher Estate in Midrand. It is understood the glitch also spilled over to the IEC's provisional results centres. IEC Chairperson, Mosotho Moepya said it was just a technical glitch that caused the crash.

I am concerned that things are not being properly explained to the public and parties at this present and a very crucial moment to appease everybody: If you look at the recent elections in DR Congo, the Congolese Independent Electoral Commission by legal attributions, received complaints, adjusted votes-in where it founds that some votes were not counted, and minimized incidents that had no much effect on the results before publishing what they called “Provisional Results” by law. The word “Provisional” is important because it is made to diffuse a situation like we are in now, whereby the IEC believes it has fully done its job while some parties are not happy, and so allowing for a clear next step procedure for those who still have complaints to bring them to a special Court dedicated to the electoral contentions within a very short period of time; 72 hours I think it was for the DR Congo; And since that Court has only a few weeks to litigate, it does not do any investigation and the honor rest on the complainant to have ready all the scientific evidence, which will show that incidents may have significantly impacted on the end results. In these proceedings, the IEC also had to defend its decision.
