Should I take a divot with my golf shots?🤔

My best shots barely scuff the surface, no divot

Here’s what I learned over the last 25 years of playing. For the first 10 years of playing, I never took a divot and had lousy distance control and couldn’t produce enough spin when I needed it. When I started taking a divot, I truly knew my club distance control, and I have the ability to stop the ball on the green.

It’s easier to take a divot every time than it is to flush every shot clean. I’m not a Professional, but you will definitely be more consistent with your ball striking once you find the right low point in your swing circle. For me, it’s about 3” after ball. For those who don’t take a divot, you’re fine, none of us are on tour, I’m just trying to help those who really want to improve their distance control.

all the courses around me have very firm fairways and i literally cant take divots unless its rained recently or i hit an awful shot haha

LMFAO! The up north bigger divots things is not a joke! Literally launched an 18” beaver tail over my head this past weekend on a ~100yd wedge shot 😂😂😂

Im starting to hit my irons well and hit them fuether than most of my friends, i dont take a divots at all really and its making me self conscious 😂

Down here in Bermuda grass land, you only make a small divot usually, even when you attack it steeply.

“A divot is a sign you made good contact”, unless its not because you chili dipped 6 inches in front of ball. That might he one if the most misleading statements about golf i have heard in a very long time. My buddy takes a divot almost every time and rarely it starts after strike, always before, and rarely struck well.
