"If you're finding it hard, you ^are^ doing it right. If you're finding it easy, you're not learning anything at all."

I was getting demoralized reviewing, so I really needed this today. Thank you!

testing-active recall, flashcards, testing yourself before, during, and after studying
spacing-"deliberate non-practicing", space out study sessions to forget some information
categorizing-if you want learn the information, create a category-based system such as a "tree of knowledge" or "mind map" with branches that hold specific information about that general subject
interleaving-if you're finding learning hard, then you're learning correctly. the brain is like a muscle; work it out.

1:39 Testing: basically active recall
3:50 Spacing: spaced repetition
6:49 Categorising: buliding a tree of knowledge to categorise every new information under an abstrakt or a type
10:07 Interleaving: don't do 20 maths problems in 4 hours straight, rather do 5 in an hour for 4 days

I did this unconsciously in high school then I went to college and saw everyone reading and highlighting so I decided to do the same and my performance was the worst. It’s now that I realise what went wrong.

I’ve been watching all these study videos and it has literally changed everything. Yesterday was my first day of MCAT material and I didn’t retain anything, after incorporating these methods I’m retaining so much more.
