"You don't have to wait for someone else's permission to speak."

Today on Flyover Culture, we're opening the book on zines, the small-press publishing format that lets creators talk about anything they want, any way they want.

A big thank-you to Cathleen Paquet and Mark Murrmann, as well as Hilary Fleck at the Monroe County History Center.

I’ve started making zines with other writers in Melbourne. I find them really empowering and freeing, since I’m traditionally a long form writer who independently publishes novels/poetry books. Zines are an extension of my self-publishing journey. Zines unite writers ☀️

This is such I high quality video and something I’m genuinely interested in so I’m super surprised that it only has like a thousand or so views. Keep making videos!

I'm curious to know whether the handmade poetry "books, " made by Greek poets of antiquity, qualify as zines?
