I am an old man living in Australia. I am about as far away from Rome as you can get. But for my six years of high school, I studied Latin. It was a compulsory subject back then for anyone going on to study Law or Medicine at university. I clearly remember reading texts of scholars from Rome and also books written by Caesar. It was my favourite subject at school and it brought to life Roman civilisation in the original language. Thank you for reawakening those memories for me. I hope that I could visit Rome before I die.

We visited in late May a few years ago, the Forum was overwhelming even with the signs and audio stations. This is just about perfect, the only thing missing is the smell of the flowers and the cackling of the gulls.(Italian seagulls have their own accent, like hysterical laughter) I can't wait to go back. Rome, and the rest of Italy, is just too much for one trip.
