Andrew Jackson: How the President Became the King

President Andrew Jackson’s story is the first I'm telling in a series on Presidential History and the expanding role of the executive branch. In order to understand future Presidencies, like those of Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, LBJ, or Trump, you need to know Andrew Jackson. This video explains Jackson’s time in the White House, from the Nullification crisis and the National Bank War, to the Indian Removal Act. Sources below. Enjoy! My main source was American Lion by Jon Meacham and his endless research at the Hermitage has been an invaluable help in crafting this video.

Way to quote American Lion! This was a rich video with a much deeper understanding of the Jackson presidency that we usually don't get on YouTube. Thanks for all of your hard work in putting together another masterpiece.

Very very impressive. One of the best made political history videos I think I've ever seen on YouTube, the storytelling with the clearly well studied material, well done

If Trump wants to be Andrew Jackson, he needs to abolish the federal Reserve.

I like how this guy trusts his audience to digest the facts themselves instead of telling them what they should think. It's sad that that is so rare.

He didn't just pay down the national debt! He is the ONLY president to completely pay off the National debt! how about we vote for that again?

If I had someone making history this interesting in the 60 ' s when I was in school, I would have paid more attention. Looking forward to listening to more of these.

Well made video! It is funny how some of this parallels early Roman history a bit. The citizens of Rome had rid themselves of their Etruscan overlords and vowed never to be ruled by a "tyrant" again, which is why they made the city state a republic. Up to the time of Julius Caesar, the Roman senators remained paranoid about a new "tyrant" seizing power once more. Funnily enough, somehow Rome slipped into an monarchical Empire nonetheless.

PS: I love the indigo background! :-D
