Additionally I carry a brush for the dog. The fur can be made into cordage and the grooming keeps the dogs cleaner and warmer in the winter.

An FYI from my experience different saws do different things. What I mean is some are set up to cut dry wood but don't cut wet wood as well and vise versa.
I ended up Bacho hand saw which came with a nice knife for under $30. Probably more now. Anyway the Bacho cuts wet, dry, bone really well! I recommend them

Nice new Computer! Now I have electricity again, I finally fired up my 2010 MacBook Pro, still works, just too old to talk to the new printer. I did most my editing on just my phone the last few years, and could never edit out my loud breathing on trail… 😂 if you can find any trees out there, I think you’ll love having the little saw! I think it’s nice to do a little modern camping too, the historical camps are cool, but you can get a little further out and be a bit more comfortable with some of those little things we’ve improved on in the last couple hundred years. I like pitch runs in dead conifers for fire starter in the west coast forests, and bracken fern for comfy beds, but probably not a lot of that in your area.

Stainless steel shrinks. You might try silver solder.
Otherwise you will need to have it tig welded.

I understand about not having a Dad that would teach camping or even knew how

As far as fire is concerned east of the cascades look for fat wood in the pine trees. Especially around the limbs after they broke off. You will smell something like turpentine. That's what you want.
