Undertale is Bigger than You Think

Undertale's backgrounds are such a small part of the game, yet somehow make it feel larger than you could possibly imagine.

Let me remind everyone there was a tweet (or something like that) by Toby fox himself saying we haven’t even *seen* 98% of the underground.
These backdrops probably are just as much of a droplet in the huge expanse of the underground as the path we take.

The Underground is so MASSIVE and it's so LOW into the mountain. I love how everything FADES into the background so perfectly

honestly, the underground being so massive just further reveals the totality of how much flowey had explored every inch of the plsce before finding himself bored and detatched. i mean you already get that implication from lines like "ive read every book, and i burned every book", but still

I do like that UT Yellow did expand on the Underground by adding the extra Snowdin places, The Dunes, and The Steamworks

I remember on my dad's first playthrough he was super impressed by just how big New Home looked.

In the ruins Toriel says She goes grocery shopping, meaning there is a grocery store somewhere in the ruins

There are probably millions more monsters, as the elevator to the city is broken. It is amazing how Toby makes you feel like you are clearing out everything despite only killing a very small fraction of monsters in the genocide route.

And this is only just a part of why Undertale is such a PHENOMENAL game.

This means one of two things:

1) the genocide route is not actually a genocide route, it would be more accurately described as the massacre route.

2) those are ghost cities that used to be filled with life, but are now empty because of prolonged isolation within a harsh environment and the past six humans.

I like to think that there are many other places that we didn’t go into as Frisk, kinda like Undertale Yellow, where there are new areas and etc..



Undertale might be Agartha

people saying there is only like 100+ monsters in the underground, they ignorants seem to not even have a vision clear, at last undertale yellow understands how big the underground is and uses it at its advantage whit its plot, new characters like ceroba, starlow, dalv, martlet, and new places like the dunes or steamworks, or that one city where the clam girl talks about before saying something obsure about "suzy"

Undertale always feels so small on its own so I appreciate people who spend years on fangames like Undertale Yellow as it really starts to flesh out what little was shown from the original. And Undertale Green although I don't know how much of it is complete. I even had my own idea to make my own version of Undertale Green until I realized someone else is already making it, but I don't want to give up on my ideas so easily
