I actually had a nurse explain to me when I was young that since i only got dental X-rays once a year, it was very unlikely for it to effect me. But they take pictures of many kids teeth every day and it would be dangerous for them to stick around. Helpful woman. Hope shes doing well

😂 i worked in a med office. When we’d go behind the wall there was a sticker only staff could see. “If X-rays are so safe, why are you behind this wall?” .

For those who are unaware, xrays are perfectly fine for the person getting the xray because generally you only get a couple xrays a year if that. For the tech doing the xray, theyre doing hundreds a day.

Yeah they just run out of there and then I’m like
“Um?” And then they say
“No no no, don’t move just stay still!” And than I’m just there standing the whole time with a red thing in my mouth. 😂

Am i the only person who's had the Dentist(assistant?) calmly walk out before the x-ray?
I mean, that's funny, but, i think the only unpleasant feeling I've had at the Dentist during the x-ray was the darn card thingies they shove in my mouth because my mouth is too small. Lol

I watched a X ray documentary and it covered things like this. X ray radiation waves bounce off every object besides concrete, and when they’re working with these things everyday, they need to quite literally run out of the room as soon as they set it in the computer and the device is charging up.

Lolll yes it is safe in small doses like you receive in the dental office. Dental personnel just have to take x-rays everyday which wouldn’t be safe for them to be in the same room with everyday especially without the lead jacket
Side note: they may be running to make sure you’re less likely to move or gag too much because otherwise there is not really a reason to run

I think they do that because even though some short bursts of radiation are ok, constant exposure can be pretty bad. And since they give dozens of xrays every day, its important that they stay cautious.

but just to put it out there dr’s hide during xrays bc otherwise theyd be getting hundreds of unnecessary doses as opposed to the patient’s 1 dose
