This is one of the main highlight for me of Olympics 2020 along with Neeraj winning the Javelin Gold. This medal is start of an era of Philippines dominance for the years to come. This is not a medal but an inspiration to millions. Love to Philippines from India.

She didn't just lift that barbell. She lifted the whole country I tell y'all. She lifted us Filipinos. So glad to have lived just to witness this HISTORICAL moment. Very proud of you my girl Hidilyn. ALWAYS AND FOREVER WILL BE!🇵🇭🏅

I am happy that Philippines won gold. Despite the lack of weightlifting infrastructures, she trained and persevered with whatever facilities she had. She is a perfect example of grit, determination and perseverance.

You can really see Filipino's positivity in this competition. Hidilyn was always positive and smiling in every attempt. You hurt yourself during the third lift but you still got the gold. What a champion. Congratulations!

One of the great things about the Olympics is seeing a nation win a gold medal that’s never won one before. I’m very happy for this young woman and for the Philippines! Great job and I had tears in my eyes as she cried.❤️

The joy in her eyes, to give Phillipines it's first gold medal, to showcase Phillipines' National Anthem in front of the world! Even we felt the same thing when Neeraj Chopra won India's first athletic gold medal.
