The Philippines’ first-ever Olympic gold medallist Hidilyn Diaz received a hero's welcome upon her arrival in the capital Manila on July 28, 2021. Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte congratulated Diaz during a video chat, saying the nation is “extremely proud”.

When I heard Philippines won their first gold medal from my little sister, I automatically said "Praise the Lord". I'm so happy for them!
