Obamacare Repeal Will Hit Trump Voters Hardest

"The people who stand to lose the most in tax credits under the House Republican health plan tended to support Donald J. Trump over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, according to a new Upshot analysis.

Over all, voters who would be eligible for a tax credit that would be at least $1,000 smaller than the subsidy they’re eligible for under Obamacare supported Mr. Trump over Hillary Clinton by a seven-point margin.

The voters hit the hardest — eligible for at least $5,000 less in tax credits under the Republican plan — supported Mr. Trump by a margin of 59 percent to 36 percent…

The plan would hit older and rural Americans hardest because it wouldn’t provide a larger tax credit to people with more expensive plans. Older Americans pay the highest premiums, and the law would allow insurers to raise premiums for older customers even further. The AARP opposes the bill as a result.”*

There was this one family on the news the other night. They have a son who relies upon Obamacare to get health care treatment because he has developmental issues. However, the father voted for Donald Trump. And now the father is complaining that he doesn't want to lose the health care coverage that his son is getting under Obamacare.

It boggles my mind how someone can vote for a candidate who represents a party whose sole goal was to destroy Obamacare and whose campaign was based on that said goal. This father voted against his own self-interest, and voted against his son.

I don't try to understand the psychology of voters, because we are all different, but this is just common sense. It's like Mitt Romney, the *Republican*, wanted Detroit to go bankrupt, and the *Republican* governor of Michigan used the Flint River to basically poison a portion of his people, and for some reason Michigan went red by voting for the *Republican* candidate. Boggles my mind how people can't see patterns and end up voting against their own self interest.

And now, these tea party protesters and Trump voters who were protesting Obamacare eight years ago, and are now reaping the benefits of Obamacare, are the same people who want to keep Obamacare alive because they finally see how the plan works for them. Unbelievable. It's what Bill Maher said, "It's not that they don't like the entrée (Obamacare), they just don't like the waiter (Obama)."

the people I truly feel bad for are the people who felt like they were in a rock and a hard place with Clinton vs Trump, the people who did not support either candidate but felt the need to vote regardless so they just chose the one that seemed less horrible for them (which could have been either honestly).

They deserve it, they created the monster, I don't feel bad at all for them. I feel bad for people who saw this coming and still have to deal with it

If we can't stop this repeal. How can we prepare ourselves and children for this?

if full time working family can't afford healthcare, it's something wrong with the free self regulated medical market. At this point regulator should step in by giving subsidies or by limit how much medical provider and insurer can charge for services.

This phenomenon is referred to as "self-sabotage", voting against your best interest. Damn it, I don't deserve decent health-care, but I do deserve to be screwed.
