The Hindenburg exploded in just 34 seconds, killing 36 people. But what caused this iconic disaster? Static electricity, flammable hydrogen, and a rocket-fuel-like coating created the perfect storm. This wasn’t sabotage—it was a design flaw that ended the golden age of airships forever.

The skin was made of conductive panels (reflective Al powder), including what amounts to thermite plus lacquer, insulated from the metal frame by rope lashings. When the frame returned to earth potential, some of those similarly-charged panels sparked to the frame to catch up (down). Either the H2 or the FeAl powder detonated. And the rest is... OH, THE HUMANITY!

There's also the assumption that some inside ropes broke during landing as they turned around too fast during landing, leading to a leak of H2.

They should have never stopped with this technology.
