Here we take an awesome vintage bike - Richard Virenques `92 RMO team bike, and ride a regular bike sportive, the Kent Classic Sportive based at Lingfield Park Racecourse with a route around the South Downs.
How will the ex RMO TVT vintage bike hold up? Spoiler alert, just darned awesome thats how!

What a beautiful day! Love when it’s autumn, chilly, and not a cloud in the sky!

You nailed it! Well done getting past everyone and bringing it home, I bet the bike felt it was back in its glory days.

I fully intend to ride next year's Etape du Tour on my Colnago Master with downtube shifters and Delta brakes 😱🤣

I like the way you ride the proper jersey and kit when you ride. In the old days the Jersey promoted the team sponsor while the shorts honored the frame builder. The old TVT92 really showed out in this Sportif crushing the heartless soul of carbon. You represented "Vintage Velos" well, my friend.

Loving your videos mate.. ive spent the afternoon watching all of them. Im currently trying to collect and restore all the bikes I drooled over in my youth. Noticed the RMO Jersey with the Liberia logo. I had the RMO Liberia frameset some years ago. Gutted I let it go. Keep up the great work 👍👍👍

Awesome bike. Brakes on classics are defo an issue. My 1992 Colnago master has terrible brakes compared to modern discs but I much prefer it as I can modulate much easier and have far more confidence descending.

I didn't grow up with disk breaks so I have no problems what so ever.

love the bike. I am game for a sportiv on a vintage bike. I plan to get one and rebuild her. Im going to keep my eyes open for a TXS Bianchi in Celeste that I can do that with

An interesting video would be how to maximize you braking on a vintage bike. Set-up and technique

Do you use those red Fibrax soft compound pads, to improve the brakes a bit?

I would ride my 1980 Motobecane in a sportif with no hesitation. I would swap the pedals for semi-modern Look Keos and the saddle for an SMP Well, but she would be otherwise functionally original. My low gear on this pretty little French girl is 42:23 (49 gear inches), and she weighs 25-ish pounds (skinny, all muscle), but I could manage.

If someone from Melbourne Australia is watching this and knows of an equivalent ride here please let me know.
