What is Shiatsu Massage?

Shiatsu is an Asian bodywork form of massage. The term "Shiatsu" in Japanese translates to "finger pressure". Discover what sets a Shiatsu treatment apart from other forms of massage! For one, the client can remain fully clothed and the treatment is given on a mat rather than a table. Shiatsu also incorporates Oriental medicine principles.

Deb Davies, LAc, Dipl. OM is a a licensed acupuncturist, birth doula, and integrative medical event planner. Beginning with her holistic studies at Mind-Body College in 1999, Ms. Davies has earned certificates in massage therapy, Oriental Body Therapy, Holistic Health Practitioner, and in acupuncture from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM).
Pacific College is one of the leading schools in the nation for acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and massage, where students earn from a certificate up to a Doctoral degree. We have campuses in San Diego, New York, and Chicago, and host the annual Pacific Symposium conference.
