Together, the two institutions have created one of the largest oceanographic facilities in the world, offering joint doctoral and professional degrees in oceanography and applied ocean science and engineering. Graduate study in oceanography encompasses virtually all the basic sciences as they apply to the marine environment: physics, chemistry, geochemistry, geology, geophysics, and biology.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is an independent, coeducational, privately endowed university in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Our mission is to advance knowledge; to educate students in science, engineering, technology, humanities and social sciences; and to tackle the most pressing problems facing the world today. We are a community of hands-on problem-solvers in love with fundamental science and eager to make the world a better place.

The MIT YouTube channel features videos about all types of MIT research, including the robot cheetah, LIGO, gravitational waves, mathematics, and bombardier beetles, as well as videos on origami, time capsules, and other aspects of life and culture on the MIT campus. Our goal is to open the doors of MIT and bring the Institute to the world through video.

This one is amazing, I mean I couldn't have thought that a five minute video could be as amazing as a movie, it was surreal watching the work you do, I wish it could have been a little longer, but woww!

Climate change is the greatest threat to humanity. The increasing levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are leading to global warming, rising sea levels, stronger storms, droughts and floods, and unpredictable weather patterns. If left unchecked, these effects could result in mass extinctions and extreme levels of poverty and suffering for humans around the world. The involvement of MIT scientists in solving our climate change issues gives a glimpse of hope. However, collaboration among all sectors of society is essential to have a significant impact. Thanks!

What I want to know as a 23 year old who has always been inclined in this way is what is the best way for me to get involved with this issue? Like what is most needed and missing on the road to a better future for our climate?

I have a doubt, let's suppose JWST is seeing something which is 10 billion light years away, but we know that universe formed 10 billion years ago, and according to big bang theory at that time universe was pretty small compared to now, so from where and how that light reaching to us, which is 10 billion years past? Does that photon actually travelled 10 billion light years?
