Sikh activist Sukhi Chahal tells StratNewsGlobal why he thinks the global Khalistan movement is largely financially motivated. He highlights how asylum-seeking Sikh youth in countries like Canada are co-opted by Khalistani groups that leverage their control of prominent gurudwaras for funding and influence.

Chahal says that most Sikhs do not support the idea of Khalistan and the 'referendums' that are championed by separatists like Pannun are pure nonsense. Add to that the Canadian government's leniency towards some sections for political reasons has meant that 'immigration in Canada has become a joke'.

Chahal accuses these groups of spreading anti-India rhetoric, often misleading diasporic Sikhs who are out of touch with Indian realities. He criticises the current U.S. administration for leniency towards radicals and anticipates a tougher stance under Trump.

V.true my friend's son is in Canada & he visited Toronto where there were plenty of Sikhs & even some protest was there but he witnessed comparatively v.few sikhs participating.
2ndly he told me that normal sikhs in Canada do fear messing up with khalistani goons.

the narrative seems to be genuine. Canada and the U.S have inimical attitude towards India's aspirations towards self dependence and in matters of defense

There is another point which is that once you get control of the gurduwara, you can funnel money to the politicians who are sympathetic to your cause, unfortunately in Canada, all three major political parties take khalistani money without asking too many questions as to the source of the funds

Imagine a new land locked country in today's time. No humans or supplies can fly in and out without another country's permission. Imagine India building a dam to block water to such a new land locked country leading to limited water, electricity and agriculture. Imagine a new land locked country with basically only one resource as agriculture to sustain itself. Would anyone living in Western or European luxury move to such a landlocked place? Imagine a new landlocked country without a seaport. Has history from 1947 taught anyone what would happen to the Gurdwaras outside of Punjab but within India, not to mention what would happen to the Sikh men, woman and children living outside of Punjab but within India as minorities. I used to visit gurudwara in the UK every day at 5 am. Never missed a day. Happily used to donate every week.

Day they valued terrorists more than Guru was the day i stopped going. Photos of people wanting khalistan are higher than those of Guru. All they are spreading there is hatred and disturbing the harmony that exists between Hindus and Sikhs.
