My mom was born/raised in the Philippines and didn't move here until she was 30. My dad is from New England.
My first babysitter was Indian. When she moved away when I was 3ish my new babysitter was Romanian.
I spent all of elementary school in speech therapy.

My brother does this to my Chinese sister-in-law. She asked me to grab a “spatulator” for her while we were cooking one time and when I told her it was actually called a spatula she realized my brother had deliberately taught her the incorrect word and had let her call it that for years, she beat him with the spatulator for revenge😂

Ironically, your dad actually pronounced "parking lot" almost perfectly in portuguese, the spelling would be 'estacionamento' but the pronunciation was very close
