If you're a big fan of petrol-powered V8 supercars, the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette C8 range has a little bit of everything for you. The Stingray remains the 'entry-level' option with its 369kW/637Nm 6.2-litre LT2 naturally aspirated engine, but it's finally been joined by two higher-output siblings, each with their own unique powertrain methodology.

On one hand, the E-Ray takes the LT2 unit and incorporates it into a hybrid powertrain, which also features a 118kW/169Nm electric motor. This combination delivers 488kW of power and 806Nm of torque. And on the other, the track-focused Z06 returns with a new 500kW/624Nm 5.5-litre LT6 atmo engine with a flatplane crank, resulting in a screaming 8500rpm redline.

In this expert review, CarsGuide Deputy Editor gets up close with the new C8 Corvette Z06 and E-Ray at their Australian media launch, to find out which powertrain methodology delivers the best performance – the answer may surprise you!

Please note the Stingray prices shown at 1:05 are old. The 2LT now costs $182, 000, while the 2LT Convertible ($199, 500), 3LT ($197, 000) and 3LT Convertible ($214, 500) have also increased in price. Apologies for the error.

I have a 3LT Stingray Coupe Sea Wolf Grey being delivered early November, why pay 17, 000 extra for the HTC when you just take to top off the Coupe, it also stores in the rear trunk. Also you can't see the engine with the HTC.

Cash for comment! How could you not comment on the way too much red on the interior. It's an awesome machine, but I barely heard a single criticism.

Bring back a modern Torana with style to match. It’s a disgrace that we import so much and don’t manufacture our own hero car.

LCT has to go. 2018 in the US, the Stingray I'd rented, started around 60k USD!!

The name ' Stingray ' is associated with death here in Australia.😅

For that money I would rather buy a 10-year-old Lamborghini

Overhyped and overpriced. LCT isn't the only excuse. GMSV price gouging for a US$70k coupe.

It really has ugly lines. Rather a used huracan
