One thing, Joshua said in a interview to GQ that some parts of Set Me Free was about that, after all the things he passed through in this year, he realized that he was abused for a guy when he was younger, so sometimes of the song it's about this...

In his GQ article, he talks about how Set Me Free is an anthem for himself about people who took power and his voice away from him, including the people who sexually abused him as a child and as a teen.

After all this, I feel Joshua came out on top with dignity. What feels Sour from 2021 is ORs "Sour" album itself. I like the album, but I cant respect artists that dont respect the lifes of others. An artist should speak up when their fans send DEATH threats to People.

Ok, I think your reaction to Set Me Free made me cry harder than just the music video. Also, listen to Feel Something and Only a Matter of Time.

I really hope you react to his unreleased song LA from a night with Joshua Bassett on YouTube. The lyrics are so good!!

“You don’t get to take all of me.”

I remember the line from “THE INVISIBLE MAN, ” when Elizabeth Moss, sitting on the floor in the dark room by herself, knowing her ex is in the room even when she can’t she him and begging him to leave her alone. It’s a small quiet scene, but so powerful.

"There's nothing left for you to take. You've already taken it all."

Posted this on the Crisis post.
LEGAL!
Somebody here referred to the possibility that Olivia was instructed by her management not to comment on the death threats. When I read that, the word LEGAL flashed into my mind. It is very possible that her attorney(s) told her AND her management not to make any public comment on the death threats. In that case, Olivia may have also told not to contact Joshua or discuss this with any of her friends.
Why?
Let's say Olivia had made a public statement on the death threats. In doing do so, she would have acknowledged a possible link between her and those threats, that is, fans' reaction to HER music was translating into death threats to Joshua.
Had something happened to Joshua, that acknowlegement could have been the basis for a massive civil suit on the part of Joshua against Olivia and her management.
Now some of you are going to point out that in August, Olivia spoke out against the fallout created by her songs but if you look carefully at that Buzzfeed post, she really skirts the heavy stuff, like death threats, and addresses only how people read too much into her lyrics.
I realize this might seem a bit farfetched and maybe I am wrong, but I think it is worthwhile to consider the legal element here. I do not want to sound arrogant or condescending but I am probably a bit older than most of you and I have seen how this sort of thing works through my own experience in the business world, where legal issues are constantly at hand. Believe me, gag-rules like I cite above DO exist.
Of course, this explanation does not help poor Josh but I am hoping that he sought help from friends, therapists, etc. It is not like he was destitute. He or his management could have hired protection and they probably did. Let's hope the release of these songs will help him to feel better and move on.

That sounded nice - not really the kind of stuff I'm listening to right now. I like that you like it.
