Albuquerque, abbreviated as ABQ, is the most populous city in the U.S. state of New Mexico. The city's nicknames are The Duke City and Burque, both of which reference its 1706 founding by Nuevo México governor Francisco Cuervo y Valdés as La Villa de Alburquerque. Named in honor of then Viceroy the 10th Duke of Alburquerque, the Villa was an outpost on El Camino Real for the Tiquex and Hispano towns in the area (such as Barelas, Corrales, Isleta Pueblo, Los Ranchos, and Sandia Pueblo). Since the city's founding it has continued to be included on travel and trade routes including Santa Fe Railway (ATSF), Route 66, Interstate 25, Interstate 40, and the Albuquerque International Sunport.

People don't understand that this is a state that has a very unique history, culture and even cuisine. Most of America is quite homogenous but there are a few parts that really have a distinct cultural identity.

Thanks for the ride. Last time I was in NM was about 10 years ago and I can't even remember why!. Do remember that roundabout at 12:23 but you turned off northbound. Think I was based a little down the road straight on. Thanks.

I'm not sure what time of day you videoed this, but the homeless, crazies and drug addicts are much, much more prominent that what I see here! The city is literally out of control in terms of crime and street drug addiction, w/ a police force that is known for shooting first and asking questions later. They've been under a Federal Judicial Order to stop that for a time. Hands down the most dangerous city I ever lived in. They actually had to put live cameras on the buses that go directly to the police because of all the assaults that occured on them.

People say how beautiful it is....Abq is brown, and only the sunsets liven it up. A good art scene and the green chili is good too, but believe me, its not worth it to live in that dump. You can get a green chili cheeseburger even in Arkansas now. Just look at other Abq youtube videos here, that's the real Abq.

The mountain behind Albuquerque is beautiful. The city itself is 70% scummy, especially downtown and Route 66 through the city. A poverty riddle ghetto that makes Fresno or Bakersfield look like paradise.

There were 3 stop sighs on the UNM campus and one downtown that you only slow down but did not stop completely, that being said they're a lot more buildings downtown going up that I knew about and I live in Albuquerque

I went to Albuquerque a few years ago. I think it's the one of the few cities in America that I really taken aback by how beautiful it was. It was so different than anything I had ever seen.
