Transform Your Tennis Forehand With This Single Drill

Key Takeaways:

Smooth defined in tennis- effortless, relaxed, flowing, where the speed of the racket develops gradually.

Practice the “ball in hand” drill from the service line first then progressively to no man’s land, then the baseline.

Prepare your swing earlier. Find your timing. Hold the finish! Slow when preparing, quick when hitting, and slow when finishing. This drill help slow you down, find your timing, and find when to accelerate during the swing. Too much effort will fatigue you in your tournaments. Use this drill to play more efficiently!

Wow! I just saw this drill today. So effortless. Typical we play a little mini-tennis as a warmup when we play with a friend. To concentrate on a compact preparation, the stroke, and finally the long and smooth followthrough. It developes rhythm and smoothness. From here, consistency and less fatigue.
Can´t wait to get out of quarantine and to try this exercise out on court. Very useful for an older player like myself.
Great video, even though I just discovered it.

Excellent. That was my forehand last year just before the holidays. Best forehands I ever hit. Consistent, good power, and variety. Then I had a long layoff due to the holidays and couldn’t replicate it. This video reminded me of what I was doing! Thanks!

How does this translate to the serve? I can go slow up until the leg drive then it is all explosive. Is there a way to accelerate smoothly late on the serve?
