First Night at the Marine Corps Boot Camp: Recruit Receiving

A new batch of recruits arrived at the boot camp, stepping on the yellow footprints and walking through the silver hatches, for a chance to earn the title Marine on Parris Island, S.C. If successful in training, these young men and women will earn the title of United States Marine.

I wish that I had enlisted when I was young enough.

I served as a paramedic for a little over ten years, helped thousands of civilians - mostly my neighbors.

The military is definitely not for everyone but, at 38 years old, I am wishing that I had tried.

Where is there buckets? That was what we carried all the shit around in. We lost all our civilian clothes in contraband there we wore utility trousers, white sneakers and a yellow sweatshirt. We didn’t get the rest of our uniforms until platoon was formed.
