I never knew Chris Cornell was a drummer himself. Matt Cameron is great in Pearl Jam. But as far as Soundgarden goes, he was born to play drums in that band.

Imagine being so good you got to play for Pearl Jam AND Soundgarden at the same time, for years and years.

Hard working man Mr. Cameron

Matt Cameron is so mathematically precise on those answers, just the same way he ever was on any record he participated in, AND played live, especially...
Fuckin' love the guy.

100% on Superunknown too. Facts.

Slaves and Bulldozers and Room a Thousand Years Wide are two of my favorite songs of all time. Those guys had such a heavy feel to their jams... It was just amazing.

Rick, please more out-takes like this!! I wanna see every second of that conversation with Matt Cameron. He was one of my childhood heroes growing up in the 90’s, except we didn’t really have the internet back then, not like we do now. To me, this is the sort of material I would have given anything to see back then.

Just casually pulls out the Blackhole Sun snare drum like nothing. That snare sound is iconic!

I love that there’s normal guys like this walking around who, I don’t know, played drums on Black Hole Sun 🤘

As a guy who moved to Seattle in the early 00s and played in the rock scene here for many years, it never ceases to amaze me how many stories you hear about the Seattle bands from the 90s (Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice etc.) being all about the song. Obviously there was ego involved, there is with every band, but those bands just managed to work through that and really step back and care so much more about the song as a sum of all its parts.

I wasn't even a fan of the grunge movement when I moved here, and I still rarely listen to those bands, but every time I've met someone from those bands, and every time I hear stories about them, or see them in interviews its the same down to earth, real musician kind of experience.

Matt Cameron’s playing on Badmotorfinger” blew me away. He fit in to every song perfectly while doing cool beats and amazing fills flawlessly. Rusty Cage is so incredible and Jesus Christ Pose is another great drum part

Matt is one of my favorite drummers and I’ve been listening to him for like… 25 years? And I think this might be the first time I’ve ever heard him speak.

This guy taught me so much about freedom in music. Matt never followed a trend or a set pattern. He created really interesting grooves and fills because it felt good to him. I don’t think he was being intentionally different, he just was different. Still is! Love him with Pearl Jam.
