What advice would you give yourself?

This week I attended a meetup and met some awesome people!

I was fortunate enough to have six of these talented and creative people tell me what advice they would give themselves if they could go back in time to when they first started.

I love the answers I got from them. I hope you do too!

Thanks to everyone who offered their ideas.

For me designing/ development is not about creating new things. Its not just about bringing something to existance. For me its about exploring something no one have ever found. There are 2 ways to live in the world, Either use what's already been created by others or explore something new, understand how it works and make it and change the world's perception. (i am a starter but here i am using the techniques told at 2:02 ).

Such a great choice to put this first thing on your landing page. Your own pieces of advice dwarfs the others' in this clip. Thank you so much for sharing. I appreciate all your efforts to educate your ever growing audience and supporters. I myself have benefited immensely. You take care, Travis.

Hey Travis! I've been watching a lot of your videos lately; new and old. You're such an inspiration to me and I've taken all the advice you've given and tried to act on it. I just want you to know how much I appreciate you doing this. I think you've made me a better designer, a better developer, but most of all, a better person. So thank you for that. :')

Dude, these videos are great. I've been getting psyched to learn the web dev magicks, but the process of finding the information, understanding how it does what it does, and then actually turning the information into something useful is super daunting. The encouragement from people inside the community is really really helpful, and vids like this give newbs like me the energy to push through that disorienting haze of incomprehensibility.

Also, your content and presentation rock. Keep it up~

Yeah I was great at stealing LOL!
but sometimes I just feel guilty about stealing stuff I just don't copy paste, I steal the basic idea of how something works or appear.
After watching this video, I will start stealing again :D
btw don't call the cops.hahahaha

I wanted to reply in Abhi's thread below, but apparently YouTube isn't having it... so the one thing I'd like to do in 2015 is MORE WORK. I sat down to build my portfolio and realized, other than the few sites I've done for my company in the 3 years in my current role, I have nothing else to display. So I want to build a Drupal Template specifically and have it posted on the Drupal.org themes page. :)

Hey Travis! I just had a quick question for you. When hiring a designer to help work on your website with you how do you protect your idea from being stolen?

Well, since you guys have already found out about stealing, i might add: Don't forget  stealing from older people. There ara tons of them all around you.
